Welcome to the Genuine Historical Calvinism web site.

This site is intended to show you the doctrines of true Calvinism.

You might be surprised at what you find.

To many, Calvinism is a set of beliefs

that is summed up in the so-called

“Five Points of Calvinism,”

also known as

“The Doctrines of Grace.”

These doctrines are popularly put forth

under the acronym “TULIP”:

Total Depravity

Unconditional Election

Limited Atonement

Irresistible Grace

Perseverance of the Saints

To many, Calvinism is a set of beliefs

that magnifies the absolute sovereignty of God,

especially in salvation.

This includes the beliefs that

God causes all actions and events,

God does whatever He desires,

God’s grace is particular,

and, especially, that

The death of Jesus Christ on the cross was only intended for,

and is absolutely effectual for,

those whom God had chosen to be saved from

the foundation of the world.

There is absolutely no sense in which

Jesus Christ died for anyone else.

Thus:

Salvation is conditioned solely upon

the work of Jesus Christ.

It is the work of Jesus Christ alone

that makes the difference between

salvation and damnation.

It is the work of Jesus Christ alone

that ensures and demands

the salvation of everyone

for whom Jesus Christ lived and died.

The above doctrines are absolutely true.

But this is not true Calvinism.

True Calvinists down through history have opposed some of these doctrines.

And opposition to even one of these doctrines means opposition to all of them.

Surprised? Read on.

If one believes that Jesus Christ died for everyone without exception,

then that person does not believe the

true gospel of salvation

conditioned on

the atoning blood

and imputed righteousness

of Jesus Christ alone.

That person who believes that Jesus Christ died for everyone without exception

does not believe that it is the work of Christ alone

that makes the difference between salvation and damnation.

Instead, he believes that his own efforts form at least some part

of the ground of his salvation.

He believes in salvation conditioned on the sinner.

There are many different versions of

salvation conditioned on the sinner, such as

salvation conditioned on faith,

salvation conditioned on good works, and

salvation conditioned on perseverance

(whether or not God enables the sinner to perform these things).

But it is all salvation conditioned on the sinner.

And it is damnable blasphemy.

This means that all who believe

that Jesus Christ died for everyone without exception

are unregenerate, unsaved, God-haters.

You might think that this is what Calvinists believe.

You might think that this is true Calvinism.

You might think that this is Genuine Historical Calvinism.

IT IS NOT.

As I will prove,

Genuine Historical Calvinists,

from the time of Luther and Calvin

up until the present day,

did not and do not believe

all of the doctrines of grace.

They did not and do not believe

all essential gospel doctrine.

Different Calvinists believed different things

down through history.

They even fought one another

over certain doctrines.

But they all had this in common:

They denied at least one essential gospel doctrine.

This means they were all unsaved.

The heresies that Genuine Historical Calvinists

believed/believe and taught/teach

include the following:

Christ’s death made expiation for every man without exception.

There is a sense in which Christ died for everyone without exception.

Salvation is conditioned on faith.

God’s grace is resistible.

God loves and shows grace to the reprobate.

God sincerely desires the salvation of the reprobate.

God does not actively control all actions and events;

instead, he merely permits some things to happen.

God does not actively harden the reprobate;

instead, he merely leaves them in their sins.

Assurance is not of the essence of faith.

The efficacious atonement of Jesus Christ

is not an essential gospel doctrine

(i.e., not all believers believe in

the efficacious atonement of Jesus Christ,

and if one does not believe in

the efficacious atonement of Jesus Christ,

he is not necessarily unregenerate).

And on and on I could go.

This web site is dedicated to exposing

Genuine Historical Calvinism

for what it is –

a lie of the devil.

In exposing Genuine Historical Calvinism,

I hope that God will use this site

to warn people of the insidious heresies

of Genuine Historical Calvinism;

to unite true believers around the world;

to show true believers who call themselves Calvinists

that they are not true, genuine historical Calvinists

and should not call themselves Calvinists;

to show true believers the heresies of the Calvinists

whom they thought were orthodox,

thus keeping them from endorsing these Calvinists;

and to proclaim the true gospel

that edifies the saints,

opens the eyes of the unregenerate elect,

and hardens the hearts of the unregenerate reprobate.

The format is simple:

In most cases, I will quote from

Genuine Historical Calvinists

and respond to these quotes.

In some cases, I will just quote from

Genuine Historical Calvinists

so they can expose themselves.

In other cases, I will post what others have written

in e-mails or discussion groups

and comment when appropriate.

There will also be other items

such as excerpts from correspondences

and exposes of Calvinists from other sources.

You are welcome to respond to me.
